Earlier this season, Ole Miss seemed to have in inexhaustible supply of late-inning magic.

It might have all been used up.

Hunter Webb hit a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning, and Alabama stole a 6-5 win over Ole Miss on Saturday.

It was Alabama’s second straight one-run victory over the Rebels, and Ole Miss’ third loss in a row. The losing streak is the longest this season for the Rebels, who had a string of four consecutive walk-off wins earlier this season.

On Saturday, Alabama (18-8, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) scored twice in the eighth inning off of closer Josh Laxer to tie it, then won it in the 10th after Ole Miss (21-7, 4-4) had scored to take a 5-4 lead.

A walk, hit batter and intentional walk loaded the bases for Austen Smith, who hit a game-tying sacrifice fly to right field. Webb then ripped a single to left off Wyatt Short to bring in the winning run.

Laxer and Short combined to allow four runs and six walks in 2 2/3 innings.

“It’s been a tough week for our bullpen,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said. “We’ve lost the last three games and we’ve had the lead in each of them. We have to be better out of the bullpen and defensively in the field in order for us to win games like these.”

Smith drove in two runs in the game, and Kyle Overstreet was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Alabama.

Braxton Lee drove in two runs and scored one for Ole Miss, and Austin Anderson had two hits.

Lee’s two-run single in the seventh inning was part of a three-run rally that put the Rebels ahead 4-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, however, Alabama loaded the bases against Laxer and tied it up with a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly by Wade Wass.

Sikes Orvis put Ole Miss back in front with an RBI single in the 10th inning, then Alabama rallied in the bottom half to take the win.
