Dorothy Jean Jones

LORMAN — Dorothy Jean Jones died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Claiborne County Medical Center. She was 72.

Mrs. Jones was a retired teacher of the Claiborne County School District where she taught for 26 ½ years. She was a member of Ashland M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Brown, Sr. and Lutisha Robinson-Brown; and two brothers, Earnest Brown, Jr. and Bobby Brown.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Allen Jones Sr. of Port Gibson; two daughters, Kimberly Jones-Smith and Pamela Jones-Davis, both of Port Gibson; five sisters, Patricia McCononco and Barbara Brown, both of Dorchester, Mass., Pearlie Rankin and Debadee Bozemon, both of Port Gibson, and Marietta McNair of Three Rivers, Mich.; two uncles, W. L. Thompson and Johnny Briscoe Robinson, both of Port Gibson; an aunt, Flora Renee Davis of Madison; three grandchildren; and a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including a special caregiver, Ann White of Lorman.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Mount Olive M.B. Church, in the Westside community, with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Rev. Richard Cruel will do the eulogy.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home chapel, and Wednesday, from noon until the hour of service.
