The Rebels (22-8) put on a show for the kids, and didn’t waste time doing it. They scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, three more in the third, and led 11-1 after five.

Anderson’s RBI double highlighted the first-inning rally, and Sikes Orvis brought in two with a double in the third. Woodman hit a solo home run in the fifth, and Auston Bousfield doubled in a pair of runs.

Orvis finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Evan Anderson, the first of six pitchers used by Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco, got the win. Working on a predetermined pitch count, he allowed one hit in 3 2/3 shutout innings.

Five relievers combined to hold UAPB (8-20) to just one hit the rest of the way.

Southern Miss 3, South Alabama 1

Southern Miss took advantage of a pair of errors to score three times in the top of the eighth inning, and went on to beat South Alabama.

Southern Miss went 5-1 on a six-game road trip, and has won 10 of its last 13 games overall. It’ll open a three-game series with Middle Tennessee Friday night in Hattiesburg.

Southern Miss (17-13) only had three hits against South Alabama (13-15). The last was a single by catcher Chuckie Robinson to lead off the eighth inning, and set the stage for the winning rally.

Robinson was replaced by pinch-runner Andrew Furr, who was bunted to second. Nick Dawson reached on an error, and both runners scored on a throwing error to give Southern Miss a 2-1 lead.

Tim Lynch brought in USM’s last run with a sacrifice fly, then Bradley Roney pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 10th save of the season.

SE Louisiana 20, Alcorn State 4

Sam Roberson tied a school record by scoring five runs, and Southeastern Louisiana (18-11) posted a season-high for runs in routing Alcorn State (5-27).

Christian Hickman went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs for Alcorn.

LSU 10, McNeese State 3

LSU coach Paul Mainieri earned career win No. 1,200 as LSU (21-8-1) beat McNeese State (16-11). Sean McMullen and Alex Bregman both homered for the Tigers.
