The engagement of Emily Nicole Abbott and George Alton Baker is announced today. The wedding will be a 5 p.m. April 26, 2014, at Abbott Farms in Pattison, Miss.  A reception will follow.

Miss Abbott is the daughter of Dexter Abbott of McBride and Rita and Archie Ardoin of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Minnie Beard Abbott, the late David Dempsey Abbott, Jessie “Dick” Green, and the late Ann Windham Green.

Mr. Baker is the son of Avery Baker of Pattison and Joyce and Scott Hunt of Wesson.  He is the grandson of Mary “Scrap” Perkins Baker, Frances Jayro Hicks, the late William Ladell Baker, and the late Clarence Alton Hicks.

The bride elect is a graduate of St. Aloysius High School. She received an associates degree of nursing from Copiah Lincoln Community College in Wesson and is employed by Franklin County Memorial Hospital.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Wesson High School. He received his associates degree in electronics technology from Copiah Lincoln Community College in Wesson and is employed at Entergy.
