Betty Riordan Hall of Vicksburg died at her home on Sunday, April 6, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Arthur Hall. She was 82.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene W. Hall, of Vicksburg; three sons, Dan Hall (Beth) of Vicksburg, Todd Hall (Kelly) of Clinton, William Hall (Pam) of Ferriday, La.; and James’ widow, Rhonda Hall-Howard, of Vicksburg.

She was grandmother to Lindsay Hall of Brandon, Jay Hall (Sarah) of Clinton, Daniel Hall of Hattiesburg, Lauren Hall of Ferriday, La., Addison Hall of Everett, Wash., Olivia Hall of Clinton, and Lance Hall of Vicksburg.

She was born in Vicksburg on Aug. 21, 1931, to Dan O’Sheridan Riordan and Lillie McBride Riordan.  She was raised in Vicksburg and attended Mississippi University for Women in 1941, but left to help care for her ailing mother.

She worked for First National Bank and met Eugene Hall, whom she wed on Nov. 26, 1952. The couple resided in Hattiesburg for two years before returning to Vicksburg, where she worked for Merchants Bank until the birth of her first son.

She remained at home with her children until 1967, when she went to work as secretary and substitute teacher at Bowmar Avenue Elementary School, then for the City of Vicksburg Planning Department until 1979.  Her last job was as an agent for American Family Life Insurance Company (AFLAC).

She and her family were members of First Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg.  She was past president of the Bowmar Avenue PTA as well as the Vicksburg Jaycettes. She enjoyed playing bridge and arts and crafts.  Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.
