Man charged in cocaine case

A Vicksburg man accused of selling cocaine was held without bail this morning.

Calvin Cooks, 22, who lives on Denman’s Alley, was arrested Monday and charged with sale of cocaine, Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

Cooks, who was also arrested in March and charged with possession of cocaine, was held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility awaiting his initial court appearance.

Duo charged in auto burglary

Two Warren County men accused of breaking into a vehicle earlier this month were held without bail this morning.

Curtis Lee Muirhead, 18, who lives on Old Woolly Ridge Road, and Billy Ray Muirhead II, 18, who lives on Old Wooly Ridge Road, were arrested Monday and charged with auto burglary, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

The two men are accused of breaking into a vehicle on Burnthouse Road on April 8, Pace said.

Both were held without bail this morning in the Warren County Jail.

 

Charges added for prisoners

Two Warren County residents in jail on unrelated charges were charged Monday with burglary.

Megan Stauts, 20, who lives on Lakeside Drive, and Daniel Scott McClellan, also known as Daniel Scott Elrod, 24, who lives on U.S. 80, were charged Monday with burglary for a break-in March 15 on Pool Road, Sheriff Martin pace said.

Stauts was in jail for a drug court violation, and McClellan was in jail for auto burglary, Pace said.

Items stolen in the burglary included designer shoes, an iPhone, and a radio, which have been recovered, Pace said. Tools taken in the break-in have not been recovered.

“This investigation is still ongoing and there is a possibility that additional arrest will be made,” Pace said.

Both suspects were held without bail this morning in the Warren County Jail.

Drugs missing in break-in

Prescription drugs were missing today following an early-morning break-in at a pharmacy on Clay Street.

At 1 a.m. today, the narcotics were reported missing from Durst Discount Drug, 2122 Clay St., Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

 

Electronics hot in burglaries

Electronics were missing this morning following two burglaries Monday in Vicksburg.

At 11:15 a.m. Monday, a 37-inch Magnavox television and a 16-inch Magnavox television with a combined value of $500 were reported stolen from a home in the 700 block of First North Street, Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

At 9:45 p.m. a SPL CD player, a 13-inch TV console and a 17-inch Compaq TV were reported stolen from a 1989 Buick LaSabre in the 2200 block of Grove Street, Williams said.
