GREENVILLE — Earnestine Isabella Page Strong, a former Greenville resident, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, in Macon, Ga.

She was born March 30, 1919, to the late Mattie and Hampton Page in Vicksburg. She was the youngest of seven siblings; all of who preceded her in death. She began her education in Vicksburg public schools and graduated from Magnolia High School. She attended Alcorn State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics. She taught high school in Vicksburg, and later became a home economist with the Washington County Cooperative Extension Service, where she retired.

She joined the Old Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where her late husband, the Rev. Roosevelt Strong, pastored for more than 60 years. She served faithfully across the church until her health failed.

She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories a devoted goddaughter, Shirley Tripplett Washington, and godchildren Carla Renee Murray and Dr. Carl E. Washington, both of Macon, Ga.

A dearest cousin, Clara Louise Jackson of Saginaw, Mich.; nephews, John Page Jr. David Page, Jomo Page and Winston Page; nieces, Mattie Page Fagan, Marjorie Smith, Glenda Page and Frances Page; a sister-in-law, Sally Page; grandnieces, nephews, and cousins; special families, Lettie Brox, Connie Brothers, Margaret Christon and Sharon Christon; and family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Old Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Hicks and Sons Funeral Home of Macon, Ga., and Byas Funeral Home of Greenville. She will be buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.
