Freda Jean Brown died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at her home in Edwards.  She was 82.

She was born to Fred and May Burns in Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 11, 1932.

She was a schoolteacher and choir director at Edwards United Methodist Church for 17 years, and also served as local and district president of the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Mosley.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet Brown of Edwards, Gail Brown of Jackson and Sandra Brown of Edwards; sister, Bernice Turley of Baytown, Texas; and one grandchild.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
