Gaskin, Nabors, Foy win at division meet

Keiyana Gaskin and Tymesha Nabors each won one individual event and were part of two winning relay teams Thursday to help the Vicksburg Missy Gators finish second at the Division 4-5A meet at Pearl High School.

Gaskin won the 100-meter dash, was second in the 200 meters, and was on the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay teams. Nabors won the 300-meter hurdles, was third in the 200-meter dash, and was on the 4×200 and 4×100 relays.

Breanna Foy was also a winner, in the long jump, and finished second in the triple jump.

Also on the 4×100 relay team were Mikayla Banks and Destiny Allen. Jamia Sanders and Allen joined Nabors and Gaskin on the 4×200 meter relay, while the 4×400 relay of Lily Brown, Jade Douglas, Jamircle Williams and Sanders also won gold.

Other individual qualifiers for next week’s Region 2-5A meet were Leondria Harris (100-meter hurdles); Jamel Ross (1,600 meters); Douglas (400 meters); Williams (400 meters) and Allen (300 hurdles and triple jump).

The top four finishers in each event at the division meet advance to next week’s regional meet at Pearl, which is the second of three rounds of qualifying for the MHSAA state meet May 12 at Pearl.
