Man hospitalized in head-on crash

A Vicksburg man was in serious condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Saturday night after a two-vehicle wreck on Fisher Ferry Road.

At about 10:45 p.m. Friday, Calvin Pollard, 28, who lives on Red Hawk Road, was injured when his northbound 1994 Ford Ranger struck a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Justin Randle, 29, who lives on Gibson Road, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

“It appears the northbound vehicle crossed over the center line and struck the oncoming vehicle, Pace said.

Pollard was taken to River Region Medical Center before being airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

A passenger in Pollard’s vehicle, Dewayne Washington, 39, who lives on Overlook Drive, was treated and released at River Region Medical Center.

Randle was not taken to the hospital.

Pace said no citations have been issued and the wreck remains under investigation.

 

Accused auto thief nabbed

A Warren County man accused of stealing to vehicles in 2013 was in jail Saturday night.

Michael Gilmore, 41, of Dudley Road, was arrested at 9:21 Friday morning in the 2400 block of Clay Street following a traffic stop.

During the stop, officers discovered Gilmore had an outstanding warrant for two auto thefts in June and August 2013, Vicksburg police Lt. Sandra Williams said.

He was being held Saturday night without bond at Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
