Richard Brister

Richard “Lyndean” Brister of Vicksburg, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 82.

Lyndean Brister was born April 1, 1932, in McComb and raised in Jayess. The son of Odie and Hettie Brewer Brister, he moved to Vicksburg in 1959. He was a truck driver for 34 years with Miller Transporter Inc.
He was an active member of Refuge Church until health prevented. A friend to everyone he met, he was a loving and caring person. He enjoyed gardening with his neighbor friends after retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Irma Reynolds Brister of Vicksburg; sons, Ricky Brister (Tommye Lynn) of Utica, Ray Brister of Utica and Russell Brister of Atlanta; brother, Kenneth Brister (Bonnie) of Jayess; stepchildren, Sharon Newsom (Bill) of Rolling Fork, Ralph Coleman (Lorna) of Vicksburg, Teresa Finger (Jimmy) of Vicksburg, Rodney Coleman of Stoneville, and Russell Coleman (Leigh Ann) of Greenville; grandchildren, Kristy Granger (Jason), Kasey Cranfield (Darron), Jeremy Brister, step-grandchildren, Casey Newsom (Caroline), Katie Glass (Wes), Amber Parker (Ed), Raegin Hardin, Mitchell Coleman, Spring Stephens, Andrew Miller; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Odie Brister; mother, Hettie Brewer Brister; brothers, Leon Brister and Larue Brister; sisters, Essie Alexander, Norma Bryant, Freda Brown and Buena Lawrence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg, with the Rev. Tony Winkler officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of service.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Shady Lawn Nursing Home for their care and compassion.

Pallbearers will be Glen McKay, William McKay, Jon Newton, Robert Wallace, Douglas McGehee, Tony Bishop.
