Y’s Men to serve pancake breakfast

This year’s YMCA pancake breakfast ushers in RiverFest 2014 with the expected promise of good feelings for its organizers.

“We have a lot of fun,” said Casey Custer, executive director of the Vicksburg Y. “It’s good fellowship and good food. It is a good way to come out and get a good breakfast for little to no money.”

The Y’s Men’s Club’s annual pancake breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m. Friday at the Purks Y off East Clay Street and goes to 9 a.m. Plates of breakfast will also be served Saturday morning, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tickets are $6 for the all-you-can-eat meal.

Proceeds from the breakfast go to the YMCA.

Will Hood, the club’s vice president, is looking forward to the event.

“I’m really excited to get out there and cook some pancakes for the people in the community. We’re going to have a good time,” said Hood.

Hood expects a good crowd at the breakfast.

“We’re expecting a big turnout. We usually will sell about 500 tickets, so I believe that the people will come out and support us like they usually do.”
