PORT GIBSON — Rosie Lee Goldsberry died Saturday, May 17, 2014, at her home. She was 89.
Mrs. Goldsberry was a member, choir member and mother at Springhill M.B. Church, and a member of the Baptist Aid and the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mittie Thomas-Thornton; husband, Harrison Goldsberry Jr., four aunts, Pearlie Robinson, Anna Gaines, Rosa Sawyer, and Emma Ward; three uncles, Louis Thomas, Richard Thomas and Howard Thomas; two sisters, Catherine Reed and Loretta Mays; two brothers, J.C. House and S.T. Thornton; two granddaughters, Anitra L. Gibson and Kendral Daniels; a stepson, James Goldsberry; and a stepdaughter, Annie Armstrong.
Survivors include sons, Harrison Goldsberry Jr. of Lancaster, Texas, James Goldsberry of Geismar, La., Donald Goldsberry of Vicksburg, Willie Goldsberry of Port Gibson, and Minister Gerald Goldsberry of Desoto, Texas; five daughters, Laura Tarleton, Efna Tillman, Diane Rankin, Bobbie Harried and Loretta Ryals, all of Port Gibson; a sister, Maria Gaines of Port Gibson; 31 grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be 1p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Springhill M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating. Minister Gerald Goldsberry will do the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.
Visitation will be Friday, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
