PORT GIBSON — Douglas Edward Wilson died Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Claiborne County. He was 32.
Mr. Wilson was employed by Mid South Lumber & Supply of Vicksburg as an installer.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Amos Byrd, Andrew Lee Byrd and Willie Shorter Jr.
Survivors include his parents, Willie Shorter and Jannie Shorter, both of Port Gibson; seven brothers, Leon Shorter, Devel Shorter, Ronnie Byrd, Billy Ray Byrd and Otis Jay Byrd, all of Port Gibson, Stanley Shorter of New York, and Devel Shorter of Virginia; 13 sisters, Judy Shorter and Audrey Shorter, both of New York, Reather Byrd, Brenda Byrd and Geraldine Byrd, all of Port Gibson, Shelia Williams and Tammy Holmes, both of Natchez, Tracy, Joychat, Keona Tameka and Briondrea Wilson-Shorter, all of Port Gibson, and Florene Hodge of Madison; two uncles; three aunts; a special friend, Tessa Romero; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Ashland Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Richard Cruel officiating. Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson has charge of arrangements.
