Pete J. Montalbano Sr.

Pete J. Montalbano Sr. died Friday, July 4, 2014 at his residence in Vicksburg. He was 92.

Mr. Montalbano was born in Ensley, Ala.. He was the son of the late Gus Montalbano and Mary Bria Montalbano. He retired from the United States Postal Service in Greenwood with over 27 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brothers, Tony Montalbano and James Montalbano.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; two sons, Pete J. Montalbano Jr. (Cynthia) of

Vicksburg, Joe G. Montalbano of Madison MS; two grandsons, Peter Vincent

Montalbano and J. Matthew Gordon (Carla), and one great-grandson, Oliver

Gordon.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at St. Paul’s Catholic church in Vicksburg, with Father Thomas Lalor officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Riles Funeral Home with KC prayers at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Oddfellows Cemetery in Greenwood.

Mr. Montalbano was a member of the FVW Post No. 2572, American Legion Post No. 3 and the Knights of Columbus Council 898. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the European Campaign in Italy and in North Africa from 1943 through 1945.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or Vicksburg Catholic Schools.

Leo Strother

Funeral services for Leo Strother will be held Monday, July 7, 2014, in the chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home at noon with the Rev. Barrett Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill cemetery.
