Robert Fredrick “Bubba” Evans III, 80, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery VA Medical Center Community Living Center in Jackson from cancer.

He was the son of the late Robert Fredrick Evans Jr. and Anatalia Mulvihill Evans of Vicksburg.

Bubba was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg and attended the University of Mississippi. He was born in Vicksburg on Sept. 14, 1933, and resided there until moving to Ridgeland in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sheila Lawler Evans, of Ridgeland; six children, Sheila Evans Foley (Brian) of Dublin, Ireland; Ellen Evans Kirkpatrick (Jim) of Collierville, Tenn.; Elise Evans Bingham (Steve), Catherine Evans Beddingfield (John) and Susan Evans Martin (David), all of Jackson, and Patrick William Evans (Aimee), of Wildwood, Mo; 14 grandchildren, Hannah, Aron, and Charity Foley; Kate and Mary Kirkpatrick, Andrew and Robert Bingham, Jeff and Nick Beddingfield, Michael Martin, and Elizabeth, Will, David, and John Evans; his sister, Jean Evans Truitt, of Pasadena, Texas; a niece, Cynthia Truitt Bucher; and a nephew, Anthony C. Truitt Jr.

Visitation is today from 3 to 5 p.m. in Foley Hall at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1242 Lynnwood Drive, Jackson.

Visitation will also be Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vicksburg prior to the service there at 11. Riles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will immediately follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
