CARLISLE — Albert Ray Evans died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 59.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Hester Barnes-Evans; and a brother, Isaac Evans.

Survivors include a brother, Templeton Evans of New Orleans; six sisters, Nora Sorrell of New Orleans, Catherine Griffith of Miami, Ruby Walker, Ida Banks, Mamie Smith and Flora Smith, all of Port Gibson; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at St. Luke Baptist Church in Carlisle with the Rev. Curtis Gainswell officiating. Burial will be at Old White Oak Cemetery in Carpenter under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
