Wallace Quai Seid

Wallace Quai Seid, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at his residence. He was 81.
He was born May 23, 1933, in Guangdong Province, China, to Joseph Gock Seid and Loi Set Seid.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fung (Faye) Seid of Vicksburg; two sons, David Keong Seid of New Orleans, and Dennis H. Seid of Baldwyn; a grandson, Austin L. Seid of Baldwyn; and a brother, Walter Seid, of Vicksburg.
He served in the United States Army for two years after the Korean War, then worked in the restaurant industry in New York City for several years. After marrying in Hong Kong in 1958, he returned to the United States and was a grocer for 37 years. He retired in 1995.
He loved gardening and fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly with his grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother, Wilbert; a sister; and his only daughter, Elaine L. Seid.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Vicksburg at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Vicksburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elaine L. Seid Pediatric Critical Care Leadership Award at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, 2500 N. State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.
