Bovina Elementary
• Our Bovina Giant leaders last week were Ashanti Williams, Gabriella Berch, Parker Green, Brady Green, Allie Haggard, Jalyah Jefferson, Korey Dykes, Gracie Watford, Kaleb Sheppard and Trey Muirhead.
• Our Bovina bucks leaders last week were Mrs. McBride’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Alexander’s third grade class.
• Our student Lighthouse officers for this school year are as follows: Cloe McGowan (president), DJ Cochran (vice president), McKayla Quinton (public relations manager), Raven McDonald and Madison Smith (activity chairmen) and Addison Leach (secretary).
Dana Road Elementary
• Grandparent’s Day was hosted for grades 1 through 3 last week and will be hosted for Pre-K and kindergarten on Monday. Family Night was hosted on Thursday.
• Box Tops for Education and Campbell’s soup labels are being collected. Please send these with your child.
• Extended library hours for the month of Sept. are from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. daily.
• The kindergarten class of Christie Holder and Becky Beard have six class pets-guinea pigs named B.B., C.C. and Elsa and hermit crabs named Scooter, Melvin and Spike.
• Lucy Spangler was a guest reader in the kindergarten class of Tiffany Brantley and Crystal White.
Jacob’s Ladder
• The students at Jacob’s Ladder had a special guest come to the school for a cooking demonstration on Friday. Debbie Rankin, aunt of one of our students, Leah Clemons, came to Jacob’s Ladder and demonstrated how to make a dessert called Fruit Cocktail Delight. The students had a great time watching Debbie and really enjoyed getting to put their own desserts together. The desserts were quite tasty!
• In preparation for a Special Olympics event at Warren Central later this month, the students worked on softball skills today with Sharon Andrews at the YMCA. We were so excited to see Mrs. Sharon again!
• Garnet VanNorman started working at the YMCA today. Thank you to Wayne Scott for helping Garnet on his first day.
• Student of the week is Matthew Grogan.
Porter’s Chapel Academy
• Eager Eagle for the week in the first grade class of Rebecca Pace was Emmy Mauldin. She was named Student of the Month and received a certificate and treat bags.
• Colonel Jeff Eckstein, Commander, ERDC, read Amelia Bedelia and The Surprise Shower to the third grade class of Kay Angel. United Way presented each child in third grade with a copy of The Courage of Sarah Noble, a Newberry Honor Book.
Redwood Elementary
• Pledge leaders for the week were Peyton Morgan, Ethan Little, Kennedi Walton, Zachary Hearn, Pernell De France, Chloe Lingle, Peyton McBroom, Brandon Turner, Likeyshia Ritcherson, Daniel Smith, Matthew Puckett, Ethan Puckett, Devon Brewer, Haley Slade, Dylan O’Brien, and Makenna Boswell.
• Grandparents Day will be Friday, Sept. 12. Meal tickets can be pre-ordered through Sept. 5.
• Faculty members Ray Burroughs, Hannah Chandler, Angela Coleman, Ashley Coomes, Robin Dixon, Katie Emfinger, Angie Grantham, Misty Hossley, Linda Hughey, Amanda Kirkley, Jeanette McCammon, Shonda Morson, Courtney Pickering, Wyn Pratt, Kellie Ray, Elnora Schmidt, Jennifer Simms, Missy Stockstill, Darlene Taylor, Becky Trawick, Belinda Watkins, Cayla Weeks, Ginger White, Kathy Wilkerson, and Angela Wilson took the ALS Ice Water Challenge. Students who donated to the cause raised $287.10 for ALS. Superintendent Chad Shealy, Assistant Superintendent David Campbell, board members Bryan Pratt and Alonzo Stevens, and Principal Leandrew Drake, also took the challenge.
• Redwood Open House is Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 6 to 7 p.m.
• Members of the 2014-2015 Honor Choir are Gage Ashley, Kate Ashley, Kayleigh Beard, Hailey Blackwell, Kimberly Burton, ZaKyah Conner, Haley Cummins, Peyton Davidson, CJ Evans, Keshon Evans, Brooklyn Hart, Marion Hoover, Malynn Kelley, Colt Lee, Lane Nevels, Haley Oldenburg, Landon Pettway, Logan Pettway, Trina Ponder, Janya Rankin, DaJah Sanders, Hannah Solomon, Cade Stockstill, Will Thigpen, and Jessica Thomas.
South Park Elementary
• Second Grade students created foldables exhibiting beginning, middle and end portions of Henry and Mudge under the Starry Night.
•Progress reports will be distributed on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Vicksburg Intermediate School
• Pledge leaders for the week were Elliot Ferguson, Luduane Newton, Keariel Bracey, and Jacob Bowles.
• Students earning the PBIS reward were treated to a snow cone social by the VIS PTO.
• Progress reports will be sent home in weekly folders next Wednesday.
• Parents are encouraged to bring their students to GATOR Read Night on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
• The MCT2 Reward Day (scheduled for this past Saturday, Sept. 6) has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, from10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Warren Central High School
• The NJROTC will have a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 8:10 a.m. near the WC flagpole on Thursday, Sept. 9.
• Herff Jones will give a class ring presentation to the junior class Monday morning, Sept. 8, in the WC auditorium.
• The WC Idol preliminaries will be Saturday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. in the WC auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 and can be bought from any choir member, choir director, or at the door.
• School Day picture orders are to be returned to the students’ English teachers by Friday, Sept. 12. Payment should be included.
