William L. Preslan

William L. Preslan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 4, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 73. 

He was born in Kenosha, Wis., and held degrees from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich., and Scripps Institution of Oceanography, in La Jolla, Calif. He began his career teaching in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Delaware.

During his employment with McClelland Engineers, he completed three years at the Singapore office. From 1988 to 2003, he worked for the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory at the U.S. Army Research and Development  Laboratory, then enjoyed an active retirement that included travel to many distant parts of the world.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet Preslan; son, Kenneth Preslan of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter, Rachel Peavy of New Orleans; mother, Merle Preslan of Vicksburg; and brother, Bruce Preslan of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Eric, Summer, Faith, Hope and Shania live in Minneapolis.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Hawkins Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cleveland.
