Lois Jane Ahlrich

Lois Jane Ahlrich died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was 77. Janie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was married to the love of her life, “Pinkey,” for 55 years.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she had been making her home in Madison for the past two years. She was a 1955 graduate of Carr Central High School and was retired from the Vicksburg-Warren School District after 25 years of service. She was also involved with the Miss Mississippi Pageant where she served as a hostess for many years.

Janie was a lifelong and active member of First Baptist Church where she worked with Operation Christmas Child, served as a volunteer with the First Baptist Church Medical/Dental Clinic, was a longtime member of the Love Sunday School Class and also worked and served in the Youth Department at First Baptist Church.

She was a very active supporter and fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

In their retirement years, she and her husband, “Pinkey,” enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. “Moon” and Frankie Manor Mullen; her son, Michael Edward Ahlrich and her sister, Patricia Forden.

Survivors include her husband, V.C. “Pinkey” Ahlrich of Ridgeland; her sons, Randy (Susan) Ahlrich and Paul (Donna) Ahlrich, both of Madison and six grandchildren, Abbey Ahlrich, Drew Ahlrich, Graham Ahlrich, Nolan Ahlrich, Carley Ahlrich and Jami Ahlrich.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg with Dr. Matt Buckles, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m.  Saturday until the hour of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church Vicksburg/ Operation Christmas Child or Medical/Dental Clinic.

Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg has charge of arrangements.
