Warren Central sweeps Clinton for division title

Warren Central marched right past Clinton and into the playoffs on Tuesday.

Pitcher Megan Stewart went 3-for-3 with an RBI single, and held Clinton to one run in a complete-game victory as the Lady Vikes won 5-1 in the first game of a doubleheader to clinch the Division 3-5A/6A championship.

Anaiyah Fultz drove in two runs with a double during a four-run second inning that propelled WC to the win. Fultz finished the game 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

The Lady Vikes made it a perfect day by completing the sweep with a 5-2 victory in game two. Stewart went 2-for-3 in the second game, and Lawren Boolos was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Warren Central scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed.

Shelby Muirhead had three hits, and Brianna Knox had two, but Vicksburg (5-10, 0-5 Division 3-5A/6A) wasn’t able to string enough together and lost 6-1 to Greenville-Weston in the first game of a doubleheader.

In game two, Myah Wright tripled and Olivia Oakes hit a three-run home run, but the Missy Gators lost 15-8.
