After a long and successful career in the Warren County Chancery Clerk’s office, she moved to Kuhn Memorial Hospital where she served as office manager.

Retiring in 1985, Dorothy spent the remainder of her life avidly involved with her family. She attended many baseball, football and basketball games in which her grandchildren participated and she always wanted to know what every family member was doing.

Through the years, she continued to be concerned about the well-being of Warren County.  She espoused the reopening of the old Mississippi River bridge to automobile traffic, and she fought this fight for many years.

She was a longtime and active member of St. Paul Catholic Church.  Dorothy is survived by her children, Kay Stewart Clark and her husband Joe of Memphis, Tenn., and Van Edwin Stewart and his wife Sue of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Edwin Austin Coody and his wife Karen of Carlsbad, N. M., and her sister, Sue Ellen Leonard and her husband Charles of Birmingham, Ala.; and nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Harbor View Nursing Home and Crossroads Hospice for their excellent commitment to and care of Dorothy.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Riles Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

There will be a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vicksburg.

After graveside services family and friends are invited to a reception at Farrell Hall.
