Margaret Rachel Beason

Margaret Rachel Beason of Tupelo died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was 93.

She was the daughter of the late John C. Pickett and Bertha Rodgers Pickett. Mrs. Beason lived her life in Vicksburg, where she was a dedicated homemaker and a faithful member of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Circle. She was a very talented cook and seamstress.

Rachel enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, and will be remembered by everyone who knew her as a humble, sweet and caring person.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James W. Beason; a brother, Ray Pickett; and a sister, Catherine Bell.

Survivors include her two daughters, Marchelle Blackwell of Louisville and Debbie Bullock (Brad) of Tupelo; grandchildren, Chris Blackwell and Stacie Vanlandingham, both of Louisville, Renae Hubbard of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Ben Bullock of Olive Branch; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell Cochren officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Johnny O’Bannon, Donald Oakes, Hillary Westbrook, Robert Gordon, Carl Warnock, Marvin Anderson, Richard Leggett and John Brynes.
