Karen L. Hudson Thornton passed away on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, in Vicksburg.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1951, to Howard A. Hudson, Sr. and Rosalie Price Hudson, both of Laurel.
Karen married Larry R. Thornton of Laurel on Aug. 16, 1969.  She attended nursing school and practiced as a nurse until she retired. They moved to Vicksburg in 1983, and she lived in Vicksburg until her death.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; a grandson, Steven Brian Thornton, Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Babin.
Karen leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Larry R. Thornton of Vicksburg; son, Steven B. Thornton (Christy) of Millen, Ga.; daughter, Tammy T. Moore (Joe) of Hattiesburg, daughter, Jennifer T. Sims of Vicksburg; sister-in-law, Sherri McCain (Terry) of Hattiesburg; her grandchildren, Candace, Steve Austin, Cole, Kadie, Tripp, Lillian, Troy, Ashlie, and Cade.
She is also survived by her sisters, Martha Cook (Jay) of Fredericktown, Mich., and Charlotte Robine (Charles) of Laurel; brothers, Charles L. Hudson of Laurel and Howard A. Hudson Jr. of Navarre, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Karen attended Bovina Baptist Church until she became ill.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Moore, Terry McCain, Steven Austin Thornton, Hayden Scarber, Jay Cook, and Charles Robine.
