J.C. Reeves died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 82.
Born in Sturgis July 2, 1932, to Johnathon Claiborne Reeves and Velma Griffith Reeves, he lived most of his life in Vicksburg.
He was retired from Ergon Marine, where he was employed as a riverboat pilot, and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie V. Reeves; a daughter, Linda Reeves; seven brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Irene M. Reeves; three sons, Jessie Claiborne Reeves of Bossier City, La., Dennis Reeves of Many, La., and Mark Calvin Reeves of Vicksburg; two daughters, Jane Reeves and Laura Reeves Bedgood, both of Vicksburg; a stepson, Dennis Bazzel of San Antonio; two stepdaughters, Denise Willis of Surprise, Ariz., and Debbie Dolan of Vicksburg; and grand children, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley and the Rev. Jerry Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Albert Smith, Van Bunch, Mark Green, Robin Stephens, Janie Sellers, and Don McBroom. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Chester, Bud Seltzer, Robert Sibley, and T.D. Easterling.
