Carolyn Bakarich

LaGRANGE, Ga. — Carolyn Bakarich died Oct. 22, 2014, in LaGrange. She was 87.

She was born in Clarksville, Tenn., in 1927 and attended Clarksville High School and Austin Peay College.

She travelled extensively with her husband, Mike, a retired brigadier general, and lived in Korea, Germany, Panama and Hawaii. She opened Yesterday’s Children and Antique Doll and Toy Museum in Vicksburg in 1986, and continued its operation.

She is a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church, the Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce and Vicksburg Main Street.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Bakarich of Vicksburg; sons, John Bakarich of an Arbor, Mich., and Dr. Michael Bakarich of LaGrange, Ga.; daughters, Vicki Ray of Vicksburg, Jan Walker of Viera, Fla., Randi Masotti of Mills Valley, Calif., Stephanie Jeselnik of Pittburgh, Ashley Powley of Canon City, Colo., Kimberly White of Bartlett, Tenn., Caroline Hardesty of Madison, and Beth Owens of Byron; and 26 grandchildren.

Services will be at Arlington Cemetery, where she will be buried with her son.

Strissler-Hamby Funeral Home of LaGrange has charge of arrangements.
