Jack Winston Tillotson

Jack Winston Tillotson, 90, died Monday night, Oct. 20, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family who love him dearly.
Jack was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Vicksburg. He graduated from Jett High School in 1943 and soon after joined the military.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War, and continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve.
He was employed at Spencer Chemical in Vicksburg for 38 years until he retired. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Vicksburg for 58 years where he also served as custodian for 13 years, trustee, assistant treasurer for more than 50 years, and Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Moss Tillotson, six children, Jack Jr., Rick (Julie), Barbara Bennett (Keith), Kevin (Karen), Jamie (Jennifer), and Chris (Celeste).
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jonathan, Neil (Anna) Tillotson, Joshua (Jessica), Philip (May), and Jared Bennett, Jake, Ethan (Heather), Eric, Wesley, Zak, Alex, Caleb (Amber), Jesse, and Beth Tillotson; five great-grandchildren; Kaiden and Connor Tillotson, and Jacob, Lucas, and Addyson Bennett; and four siblings, Odell Barlow of Utica, Sydney Tillotson and Elsie Buchanan, both of Vicksburg, and Pat Mansfield of Nederland, Texas.
Mr. Tillotson is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Elsie Tillotson; daughter-in-law Kim Tillotson,; and two grandchildren, Adam and Stephen Tillotson.
He enjoyed camping with his family, attending Warren Central football games, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and spent many years serving Him through his church with gladness and humility, something he taught his children as they worked beside him.
All grandchildren will serve as pallbearers for their grandfather.
Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home today from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at Immanuel Baptist Church Saturday at 1 p.m. with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until service time with the Rev. Billy Brumfield and the Rev. Matt Buckles officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, Vicksburg or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
