Alabama A&M knocks off JSU

Chris Leachman threw for 270 yards with three touchdowns, and Alabama A&M defeated Jackson State 25-14 Saturday night.
Leachman threw touchdowns of 60 yards to Jonathan Dorsey and 25 yards to Montaurius Smith for a 16-7 halftime lead.
A holding penalty by Jackson State that resulted in a safety and Leachman’s 44-yard touchdown connection with Dorsey put Alabama A&M (4-5, 3-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) ahead 25-7.
Quarterback La Montiez Ivy had 349 yards on 36-of-53 passing, with two touchdowns and two interceptions, and Dan Williams had 108 yards receiving and a touchdown for JSU (3-6, 1-5).
UAPB 24, Mississippi Valley State 14
Benjamin Anderson and Willie Young connected for three touchdowns and Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat Mississippi Valley State.
Anderson completed 17 of 30 passes for 232 yards without an interception for the Lions (3-5, 2-4 SWAC), with Young collecting 175 yards on 10 catches. Brian Handley added 160 yards rushing on 18 carries.
Julian Stafford caught nine passes for 174 yards and a touchdown for Valley (2-7, 1-6).
Faulkner 55, Belhaven 14
Joe Jones ran for two touchdowns, and Faulkner University (8-1) scored two defensive touchdowns to rout Belhaven (2-7). Faulkner scored 28 points in the first quarter and led 42-0 at halftime.
Faulkner’s Mitchell Hoskins, a former Port Gibson star, sacked Belhaven’s Eric Mosley and forced a fumble in the end zone that was recovered for a touchdown.
Hoskins finished the game with five solo tackles, four assists, a sack and a forced fumble.
West Georgia 55, Mississippi College 14
Emmanuel Taylor completed 11 of 15 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns, Lane Thompson ran for two scores, and West Georgia (7-2, 3-2 Gulf South Conference) beat Mississippi College (1-7, 0-5).
West Georgia had 417 rushing yards and 646 yards of total offense.
Delta State 33, North Alabama 28
Eddie McCadney and D’Juan Bellaire each ran for two touchdowns, and Delta State (7-1, 5-1) beat North Alabama (7-1, 4-1) in a showdown of Gulf South Conference frontrunners.
Delta State led 17-0 at halftime before withstanding a second-half comeback by North Alabama.
