Gloria B. Allen died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 91.

Born in Greenville, she had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1927.

Mrs. Allen was the daughter of the late John Franklin Buchanan and Lucille Plummer Buchanan.  She was a graduate of Carr Central High School in the class of 1941, and was a retired employee of Bell South Telephone Co., retiring with 40 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and was active in all of their endeavors.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Drew Beard (Chastity) and Amanda Gray (Shane); and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Albert R. Allen Jr. two daughters, Rory Roberson and Susan Coleman; one great-granddaughter, Andra Danielle Beard; two brothers; and one sister.

A Service of Remembrance will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dwight Sibley, pastor of Oakland Baptist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Pallbearers will be Drew Beard, Logan Bearn, Shane Gray, Tyler Gray, Clyde Roberson, Buddy Coleman, James Davidson and Patrick Roberson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Haden Beard, Caylea Gray, Thomas Gray and Will Fuson.
