UTICA — Angelina Mary (Pedrotti) Griffin Kitchens, 81 years of age and affectionately known to her family and friends as Angie, passed away on Dec. 7, 2014, at her home in Utica.
Angie was a member of Utica Christian Church, the 20th Century Club of Utica, and an avid supporter of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. She was a generous and kind-hearted person who loved children and animals, yet was remarkably strong and determined.
Angie was born in Gloucester, Mass., on Aug.10, 1933, to Angelo and Estherina Pedrotti, and welcomed by older brother Eugenio John Pedrotti, all of whom preceded her in death.
Angie spent her youth in Gloucester before venturing out as a young woman to work in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, she met Charles H. Griffin, whom she married on Nov. 8, 1953.
Angie and Charles resided in Arlington, Va., until his retirement from Congress in 1972, at which time they returned to Jackson. In 1986, Angie and Charles built their retirement home in Utica, where they enjoyed country living until Charles’ untimely death in 1989.  In 1995, Angie married Mid Kitchens of Utica.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Faye B. Griffin, and brother-in-law, Murray S. Griffin, both of Utica; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Marsha Griffin of Little Rock, Ark.; cousins, Rose Stefani of Aron, Mass., Henry Viola of Dorchester, Mass., and Larry Zorio of Westwood, Mass.; along with nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful to Daisy Scott, Lola Stimage and Tiffaney Dixson for the care they provided Angie over the past month.
Services will be held at Utica Christian Church, Utica, Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Utica Christian Church, the Charles H. Griffin Memorial Scholarship Fund at Hinds Community College, or the Charles H. Griffin Memorial Scholarship Fund at Mississippi State University.
Pallbearers will be Thomas E. Griffin Jr., Craig F. Griffin, Shelton M. Griffin, Jason E. Griffin, William A. Penn, Justin T. Griffin, Travis Griffin and Mark A. Newell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Norton Barlow and Bob Lee Currie.
