Funeral services for Dorothy L. January are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 in the chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home, with Brother Phillip Burk officiating. Interment is to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel.
Ms. January passed Saturday, Dec. 28, 2014 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was 71.
A member of Church of Christ, she was retired from Kuhn Memorial State Hospital, where she worked for 22 years as a nurse. She was also retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District, as an employee of Grove Street School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bertha Finis January.
Survivors include her brother, Robert January Jr., of Vicksburg; her sisters, Bertha J. Burks, of Utica, and Bernice January, of San Diego; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
