PORT GIBSON — Robert L. St. John died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. He was 91.
A lifelong resident of Claiborne County, he was retired from the Southwest EPA. He served on the board of Grand Gulf State Park, the board of directors of Riverhills Bank, the board of directors for Lake Claiborne, and a member of the W.H Stevens Masonic Lodge. He also served as an alderman for the City of Port Gibson for three terms.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson, where he served as a deacon and later as an elder for over 30 years.
Survivors include his son, Robert “Cliff” St. John of Vicksburg; sisters, Martha Vaughan of Houston, Texas, and Blanche Billingslea of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be noon on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Michael Herren officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Gary Knight, Gary Tucker, Mike Mikell, John Lindsey Torrey, Jeff Roberts and Kenny Strawn. Honorary pallbearers will be James Cassell, Sr. and James Cassell, Jr.
