Martha Margaret Conrad departed this life for her heavenly home on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 92.

Born July 1, 1922, to J.W. Cockrell and Lillie May Cockrell in Vicksburg, she lived in Vicksburg all of her childhood and a large part of her adult life. She graduated from Culkin Academy and attended Hinds Junior College at the age of 78 for three semesters, taking computer classes. She was known as “Computer Granny” to the much younger students and became proficient in news, email, eBay, and online games.

Mrs. Conrad and her husband were always active in church ministry, establishing a church in Yazoo City and living in South Dakota for five years, helping to establish a church in Hot Springs. Many people in the Vicksburg area and beyond have her handprints on their life as she encouraged them and prayed for them. She was a retired licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International.
