Reader questions need for building codes

Dear editor,
Now that all the hoop-la about adopting a zoning and building code ordinance in Warren County is temporarily on hold, I would like to use my very limited 1st Amendment right to express my opinion of the scam.
I am glad that some of our supervisors are smart enough to see that the Building Code and Zoning Ordinances are a scam to make the rich richer. The passing and implementation of such garbage will only benefit the rich. Why? Because it stands to generate millions:
1. In campaign funds through donations from construction and builder associations PACs.
2. For construction companies by the additional money required to offset construction and building requirements.
3. For the real estate business because of the additional cost of a home.
4. For the insurance industry due to increased value of housing.
5. Finally, it will require the hiring of a “good ole boy(s)” (at taxpayer expense) to inspect and approve construction codes regardless of their expertise.
The author of the bill must have made financial promises to the big construction and builders associations in return for guidelines. If the big building associations were not getting something in return for their services, surely they would not be hell-bent on getting legislation passed. The real estate market gets paid a commission based on the cost of land and home sales, therefore the more the cost the higher the commission. And, my friends of Warren County, the only thing we taxpayers get out of the deal are higher taxes, higher insurance rates and the shaft.
Mr. Lauderdale is right on by his attitude toward some tinhorn calling him/herself an expert intruding in privately contracted home building affairs. Inspections are totally unnecessary and an invasion of privacy. A legitimate licensed and insured builder surely possesses the knowledge to successfully build, wire and plumb a home without the interference of a tinhorn inspector.
Today we have no rights, liberties, or freedom. Our entire lives are controlled by wealthy politicians dictating policies governing everything we do and charging us hefty fines if we don’t comply. The Opinion Article “Growth without a Plan” (Nov 13, 2014) said “America is the land of the free, but governed by laws and regulations.” My friends, we, as a people, need to unite and get rid of the unnecessary laws, regulations, dictator politicians, abolish unnecessary agencies and take our country back.
