Funeral services for Robert Walter “Bam” Phillips Sr. will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Cool Springs M. B. Church with the Rev. Kevin Winters officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Phillips died Thursday, Feb. 5, at Community Hospital in Natchez. He was 62.  He was a retired supervisor for the Port Gibson Street Department and was a member of the Springhill M. B. Church of Port Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his father William Walter Byrd.

Survivors include his wife, Gustina Phillips of Port Gibson; his mother, Pearl Sullivan of Vicksburg; sons, Robert Allen of Dallas, Robert W.  Phillips Jr. of Fort Carson, Colo.; stepsons, Andre Jackson Jr. and Richard Earl Ellis, both of Port Gibson, Jarrod Ellis of Birmingham, Ala., and John Ross of Vicksburg; three daughters, Monique Copper of Slidell, La., Trinawa Murielle of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Nakisha Phillips of Vicksburg; his stepbrother, Larry Sykes of Vicksburg; and sisters, Bertha Williams and Barbara White, both of Vicksburg, Lubertha Dorsey of Clinton, Linda Andrews of Georgia, and Laura Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
