Dear editor,

Danny Barrett’s front page report in the 15 February Vicksburg Post regarding Common Core reflects acute, yellow journalism. He refers to the Tea Party as “the usual anti-government suspects”. A “suspect” is usually considered to be one who may have violated the law. In this reference Mr. Barrett is dead wrong. Secondly, the Tea Party is expressly not anti-government. The Tea Party stands rightly on three principles: government within the limits established by the Constitution of the United States; fiscal responsibility in government spending; and the promotion of capitalism, entrepreneurship, and free markets. Any reporter worth his salt should know the difference between “anti-government” and constitutionally limited government.
