Aaron Charles James

Aaron Charles James died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. He was 64.
Mr. James was born Nov. 8, 1950, to Roosevelt and Geneva James, and was a member of at Greater Grove Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
He was a 1968 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and worked with General Motors for 33 years, holding many elected union positions, including union shop chairman and chief negotiator, and traveled throughout North America representing workers. He had a bachelor’s degree in public communications from Jackson State University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
He is preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt James; and one brother William Earl James.
Survivors include his wife, Josie James of Jackson; mother, Geneva James Johnson of Vicksburg; two sons, Aaron A. James and Charles James, both of Jackson; four children from a previous marriage, Tara James-Jackson of Fredericksburg, Va., Mia James of Athens, Ga., Erica James Lake of Irmo, S.C., and Kristen James of Athens, Ga.; a brother, Andrew James; three sisters, Geneva King of Huntsville, Ala., Linda James Simpson and Samuelstine Regina Howard, both of Vicksburg; three stepchildren Charlotte Buckley, Cynthia Smith and Eric Smith, all of Jackson; 11 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be noon Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at House of Peace Worship Church International with Apostle Linda Sweezer officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
