First, Redwood Elementary School is officially a Leader in Me School.

Our students, teachers, parents, and community are excited about this transformative journey our school has begun.

The Leader in Me philosophy is about empowering students and their families with the skills to be successful in all aspects of their lives.

We believe that every student is a leader, and can contribute to making Redwood the best school in the Vicksburg Warren School District.

Two of our teacher leaders, Mrs. Angela Coleman and Mrs. Amanda Hall, have coordinated two major events this quarter.

Mrs. Coleman, a Kindergarten teacher, provided school level support for our PTO’s Garage Sale on February 7.

It was a surprising success and we are looking forward to next year’s sale.

Mrs. Hall, a Fifth Grade teacher, provided her creative and leadership in coordinating our Family Reading Night on February 12.

The books were provided via Federal Title I funding, and the parents and students enjoyed it experience a lot.

Lastly, Mrs. Ashely Coomes, a Sixth Grade teacher, was name the 2014-2015 Vicksburg Warren County Chamber of Commerce Elementary Teacher of the Year.

She is Redwood’s “Cheerleader” and inspires students and teachers alike to work hard every day and enjoy every minute of the day.

Congratulations, Ashley!
