Walter D. Seid

Walter D. Seid died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 86.
Mr. Seid was born in Guangdong Province, China and was the son of the late Joseph Gock Seid and Loi Set Chu Seid.
He moved to Portland, Ore. in 1948, then later to Vicksburg. He returned to Hong Kong where he married in 1960, then back to Vicksburg where he was a grocer. He retired in 1991.
He was an avid coin and stamp collector and a fruit and vegetable gardener. He loved fishing, watching sports and being with family.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Seid; son, Dr. Melvin H. Seid, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Tammy Seid Lum, of Arlington, Va., and Peggy S. Gong (Keith), of Bristol, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Brian Gong (Natasha) and Katherine Alexis (Alex) Gong; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Wallace Seid and Wilbert Seid, and a sister.
Services will be Monday, March 2, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at Riles Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Matt Buckles, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the service. Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Seid to favorite charities.
