William Stephen Stapp

William Stephen Stapp, beloved son, brother and uncle, was received into Glory Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was 66. William was born in Dallas, Texas, to Edward Long and Roberta Shaw Stapp on May 8, 1948.

William graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin and completed two years at U.T. Southwestern Medical School. He resided in Vicksburg in 1973 for a short time while he assisted his brother Bob and sister-in-law Ruth in opening The Showboat Restaurant on the sternwheeler steamer Sprague. He made his career in the field of commercial painting.

William was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his brother Edward Robert Whittlesey-Stapp (Janie) Wolfe City, Texas; and sisters, Sue Stapp Ahlvin (Richard), Vicksburg, and Patricia Stapp Pederson, of Dallas. Other survivors include nephews Eddie (Barbara), Donald (Desirée), Michael (Hye Eun), and nieces Vickie and Anne (Sam) He was a grand uncle and great-grand uncle to several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Garden of the Cross, Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
