William ‘Jiddy’ Turner Sr.

William “Jiddy” Turner Sr. died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Promise Hospital. He was 69.

Mr. Turner was born on Oct. 31, 1945, to the late Rosie Wilson Turner and William Tom Turner in Warren County.

He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin Turner, Leroy Miller and Edmond Turner; and one sister, Dorothy Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Turner of Vicksburg; two daughters, Valerie Turner and Sarah Turner, both of Vicksburg; one son, William Turner Jr. of Yucapia, Calif.; sisters, Hattie Liggins and Cannolla Benard, both of Vicksburg; five brothers, Charles Turner of Jackson, Burrell Turner, Ronald and Donald Turner, all of Vicksburg, and John H. Turner of Chicago; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Edley officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
