BERRYVILLE, Va. — Carolyn Joy Hicks, 71, of Berryville, died March 20, 2015, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Ms. Hicks was born Oct. 28, 1943, in Vicksburg, the daughter of the late Curtis Harris and Edna Bernice Simpson Harris.

She was a draftsman and engineer for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Surviving are a daughter, Angelia Sue Harman and fiancé, Charles Ratcliff of Rawlings, Md.; a son, Chandler Eugene Hicks and wife Joan of Berryville; sister, Susan Franklin of Berryville; brother, Paul Harris and wife Tracy, of Leesburg; five grandchildren, Amber Nicole Loy of Winchester, Va., Michael Tyler Hicks of Moorefield, W.Va., Brandon Stewart of Cumberland, Md., Chase Alan Chandler Phares of Rawlings, Md. and Devin Matthew Ratcliff of Rawlings, Md.; and a great-grandson, Cohen Avery Deursch.

Her daughter, Tina Joy Stewart, and her half-sister, Mary Frances Johnson, both preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3p.m. Tuesday before the service at the funeral home.
