Artists’ interpretations will soar Friday night during the Attic Gallery’s themed art show as 23 artists offer their explanations of Wings.
“Artists will be able to interpret wings any way they want to,” the owner of the downtown gallery Lesley Silver said.
The gallery is at 1101 Washington St.
Some of the pieces of art have already come in, Silver said, and they include images of angels, linoleum block prints of chickens, a winged monkey and winged interpretations made from glass.
“Earl Simmons brought in an airplane,” she said.
Participating artist always enjoy the themed shows because they look forward to seeing how their contemporaries have translated the subject matter, Silver said.
“It’s fun to have a theme to see what you can do with it,” Linda Hall said.
Hall is a local artist who will be participating in the show.
She said her mind went off in tangents after learning the theme was wings, but decided on doing a painting, which included her grandson.
“He is eating a chicken wing,” Hall said.
The show will open at 7 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. at the loft apartment above the gallery, which is the home of Silver and her husband, Daniel Boone.
