Ernest “Ernie” Norman Brown, 66, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at his home in Port Gibson.

Born in Caliborne County on Oct. 17, 1948, Mr. Brown was a member of the first graduating class of Warren Central High School in 1966.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 101st Airborne Division in the Vietnam War. Mr. Brown received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Silver Star Medal.

He retired from Entergy after 28 years as a nuclear operations instructor.

Mr. Brown was a member of the Port Gibson Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Masons, acting as senior warden, at Washington Lodge No. 3.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his mother-in-law; Evelyn B. Jennings; and one grandchild, Jessica Holloway Alkashgari.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Jennings Brown; his children, Terra Mashburn and her husband Al, of Vicksburg, Lynda Holloway and her husband Joey, of Hattiesburg, Maggie Dawson and her husband Carlos, of Monticello and Amanda B. Graham and Virginia “Gin” Brown both of Hattiesburg; a father-in-law, Howard E. Jennings, Sr. of Hattiesburg; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 12 p.m. at Port Gibson Baptist Church with Rev. Carlos Dawson and Rev. LaDon Dawson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
