The heavy rains that have rolled through the Vicksburg and Warren County area Friday have forced association officials to cancel the opening ceremonies for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association.

The association had planned to hold opening ceremonies for Friday evening at Bazinsky Field.

In an email to parents, the association said “the fields have water standing on them and it will not have time to drain off prior to this afternoon.”

“We will watch the weather and check with the high schools to see what nights we can try to reschedule for next week.”

Although the game schedule for the association was light Friday, the association’s schedule picks up significantly next week.
