Shooting leads deputies to sex crime suspect
An unrelated shooting Friday led to the arrest of a Warren County man accused of using a social media site to solicit a child for sex.
James Friley Jr., 26, was arrested Friday by detective Todd Dykes, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Dykes spotted Friley walking in the 1300 block of Jeff Davis Road while investigating an earlier shooting on Lawland Road, Pace said.
Friley is accused of using Facebook to solicit a child younger than 14 for sex, Pace said. Dkyes and detective Stacy Rollison had been looking for Friley after a warrant was issued for his arrest, Pace said.
“There had been other sexual related transmissions of information from Friley to this child,” Pace said.
The shooting occurred at 8:58 a.m at the home of Bobby Wyble, 26, 40 Lawland Road, Pace said. Wyble suffered “what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the left arm,” Pace said.
He was taken to Merit Health River Region where he was treated and released.
“This matter is under investigation. We have interviewed several people including the victim and the version of events we were given are conflicting,” Pace said.
Friley was held without bail in the Warren County Jail awaiting an initial appearance set for Monday.
Neighbor shot at car as man trashed home
Two people were held without bail Friday after a Warren County man trashed his girlfriend’s home and her neighbor shot into a vehicle leaving the house.
Michael Parish, 2827 Oak Ridge Road, was arrested and charged with felony malicious mischief, and Daniel Roberson, 2809 Oak Ridge Road, was arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Just after midnight deputies responded to a disturbance at the home Parish was living in that is owned by his girlfriend, Pace said.
The woman met deputies at a convenience store on Oak Ridge Road and was advised how to file charges against Parish, Pace said.
At 1:30 a.m., they received a call to the same residence saying shots had been fired into a 1999 Ford Expedition driven by Vavondalyn Porter of Tallulah at the same residence. Neither Porter nor her passenger was injured in the shooting. Porter told deputies she had come to the home to retrieve belongings of the victim from the earlier complaint.
Roberson had opened fire on the vehicle with a shotgun, Pace said. Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the shooting, Pace said.
“The entire matter is still under investigation including what Roberson’s initial involvement was,” Pace said.
When deputies arrived they found that Parish had destroyed the interior of the home at 2809 Oak Ridge and cut up pieces of furniture, Pace said.
Both men were held without bail Friday in the Warren County Jail awaiting an initial appearance Monday.
