Funeral services for Mamie R. Spellman will be noon Friday, April 17, 2015 at Mount Heroden Baptist Church with Rev. L.A. Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 6 Thursday at the funeral home and at the church on Friday at 11 a.m. until the hour of service.

Mrs. Spellman died April 7, 2015 at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 79.

Born and reared in Vicksburg, she was employed for many years at the Joy Theater. She was also employed by the Battlefield Mall Cinema, and retired from the United Artist Cinema Theater at Pemberton Mall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Spellman,  Sr.; her parents, Oscar and Evelyn Scott; six brothers, Eugene Scott, Robert Scott, George Scott, James Scott, Eddie Scott, and Charles Scott; and two sisters, Margaret Thomas and Evelyn F. Hopkins.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher A. Spellman and Roosevelt (Phyllis) Williams, Jr., both of Vicksburg; one daughter, Pamela (John) Thomas, of Salinas, CA; three stepchildren, Veronica Spellman, Charles Spellman, Jr., and Timothy Spellman, all of Bakersfield, CA; six grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including Lillie Scott, Freddie Smith, Billy Brown, and Donna Brown, all of Vicksburg.
