Catherine Boler Nosser

Catherine Boler Nosser died Monday, April 27, 2015, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 93.

Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Nellie Hopkins Boler.

Mrs. Nosser was a graduate of Culkin Academy. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and was a member of Pi Alpha Kappa Sorority, Beta Chapter. She loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener.

She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where she taught Sunday school and was an active member of the Women of St. George.

She is survived by her children, Janice Strickland (Buddy), Sherry Cannada (Al) and Johnnie Nosser; her grandchildren, Cathi Verhine (Scott), Brian Strickland, Lindsey Jordan (Ray), Haley Nosser, Dustin Cannada, Heath Cannada and Hunter Cannada.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Hampton Strickland, Kayln Strickland, Rett Verhine, Coleman Verhine, Riely Jordan, Tyler Jordan and Sarah Jordan; and a sister, Frances Ray.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Johnnie Nosser; two sisters, Lucille Klein and Nettie Dees; and three brothers, Chester Boler, Harold Boler and Herbert Boler.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Father John Morris officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with Trisagion Prayers at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2709 Washington Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180; Blair Batson Children’s Hospital, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216; and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the care of Mrs. Nosser by the staff of Vicksburg Promise Hospital and Amedisys Home Health.

Pallbearers will be Brian Strickland, Hampton Strickland, Heath Cannada, Hunter Cannada, Dustin Cannada, Scott Verhine, Rett Verhine, Coleman Verhine and Billy Ray.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Dan Edney, Dobie Nosser, Freddie Nosser, Larry Nosser, Ray Jordan III, Ben McDonald and Rowdy Nosser.
