Mamie Grace Brown Scott

Mamie Grace Brown Scott of Bovina, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 90.
She worked as a switchboard operator and manager for Bell South Telephone Co. for several years after graduation from Oak Ridge High School. She also worked over 25 years for Cooper Lighting until her retirement in 1994.
Grace was an active member of Bovina United Methodist Church since 1962. She and Joe were active in the Vicksburg Riding Club, and had participated in several rodeos and quarter horse events. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Joseph Burns Scott Jr.; one son, Timothy Ray Scott; sister, Dorothy Brown Griffith (Melvin, deceased); brother, George Edward Brown (Vera); sister-in-law, Dora Stagg Brown; two granddaughters, Dawn Michelle Scott Sanderson (Andy), Monica Elaine Scott Rickels (Stuart); one grandson, Nicholas Ray Scott; and three great- grandchildren, Madeline Sanderson, Abbie Rickels, and Brayden Rickels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Franklin Brown Jr. and Alice Iva Baker Brown; her sister, Ina Lillian Brown Fowler Beesley; her brothers, James Franklin Brown III, Donald Patterson Brown, Richard (Bill) Frederick Brown; a son, Joseph Randolph Scott; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Elaine Tanner Scott (Tim).
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. John Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Thursday from noon until the hour of service.
Pallbearers will be Andy Sanderson, Ben Luckett, Butch Landers, Rocky Fowler, Joseph Farrar, Daniel Ettinger, Mike Lauret. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Ettinger and Joe Farrar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bovina United Methodist Church, 70 Bovina Drive, Vicksburg, MS.
